New Delhi, Feb 3 : The government on Wednesday named the Central Bureau of Investigation s Additional Director Praveen Sinha, a 1988 batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre, as the agency s interim chief until a new Director is appointed to succeed Rishi Kumar Shukla who has completed his two-year tenure.
This is the fourth time since 2005 that an interim chief has been appointed for the country s premier investigative agency. ....

New Delhi : CBI Additional Director Praveen Sinha, a 1988-batch Gujarat cadre IPS, has been appointed acting chief of the agency till a decision on a new director is taken to succeed Rishi Kumar Shukla who retired on Wednesday after a two-year fixed stint.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose Sinha.
An order issued by the Department of Personal and Training on Wednesday stated that Sinha will look duties of the director with immediate effect till the appointment of a new CBI chief or until further orders, whichever is earlier. ....

NEW DELHI: CBI Additional Director Praveen Sinha, a 1988-batch Gujarat cadre IPS, has been appointed acting chief of the agency till a decision on a new director is taken to succeed Rishi Kumar Shukla who retired on Wednesday after a two-year fixed stint.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved Sinha s name.
This is the fourth time since 2014 that an acting director has been given charge to look after duties of the CBI chief.
Earlier, Rakesh Asthana, then additional director, held the fort before Alok Verma was appointed as Director. M Nageswara Rao, as additional director, took charge of the agency twice when the government removed Asthana and Verma from the agency following allegations of corruption levelled by them against each other. ....

New Delhi, February 3
The government on Wednesday appointed Praveen Sinha, a 1988-batch Gujarat cadre IPS, as the acting chief of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) till a decision on a new director is taken to succeed Rishi Kumar Shukla who retired on Wednesday after a two-year fixed stint.
Sinha is currently posted as Additional Director in the CBI.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its nod for Sinha’s appointment, an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) said.
In the order the DoPT said, Sinha “will look after the duties of the director with immediate effect till the appointment of a new CBI chief or until further orders, whichever is earlier”. ....
