We would be remiss if we didn t talk about the politics as well. a year later, has the opinion among activists changed? i don t know that a lot has changed because the biden administration has continued its approach. essentially it s been a policy mix of partial enforcement, expanded legal pathways, there are some welcome measures of course that we have seen in the last year. we ve seen the continued expansion of humanitarian programs. that s helpful because it does allow for people to apply from their home country. but it is a temporary solution. we ve also seen the administration talk about additional family reunification programs. that to us is a bipartisan program that auto receives support from both sides of the aisle. we have seen the administration double the number of people who could be resettled through the region. and i think that is also useful. but we have to recognize that the administration has also announced ways to limit asylum ....

Comment Period for Increased Filing Fees Extended by USCIS

USCIS proposed raising its filing fees and the burden of those increased fees will fall primarily on employers large and small. For example, the filing fee for an H 1B visa would be raised by 70% from $460 to $780. USCIS has extended the comment period until March 13, 2023. ....

Happening on the ground, but a lot of people are leaving desperate circumstances. humanitarian crises. haiti, cuba, other places. venezuela. venezuela, and the challenge is that these are countries where it s harder to solve the circumstances and what s happening on the ground. some of the proposals that have been put forward is allowing people to apply for asylum from within their country. if they can find a sponsor in the united states, they can come here, go through their asylum processing. those are good and those have worked in some capacities, but it s challenging, joy, and not something that any administration can solve overnight because it s going to take years to do that. you have also, well, the issue of sort of hostile we don t have time. we have to have you come back. you also have hostile governors in some states. a lot of haitians that came to florida. there s hostility to the arrivals. it s a complex issue. complex and politics don t always go together. comin ....
