BRIDGEPORT — An Ecuadorian citizen is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Norwalk girl he met at a Seaside Park soccer game.
Wilmer Mocha, 24, of Denver Avenue, was charged Monday with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child.
Police said Mocha told them he was unfamiliar with the laws of this country but believed it was all right to have sexual relations with the girl because she was about to turn 15.
“He had an inappropriate relationship with a minor,” Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Justina Moore said during Mocha’s arraignment Tuesday afternoon. She urged the judge to set a high bond.

A grand jury in Hartford returned the indictment on Dec. 21, 2020.
Burden appeared by video conference before Judge William I. Garfinkel and pleaded not guilty, officials said. Burden has been detained in state custody since he was arrested on Sept. 30, 2020.
