SLAMcore offers ‘out-of-the-box’ robot navigation
SLAMcore, a specialist in Spatial Intelligence for autonomous robot location and mapping, has added new dense 2.5D mapping capabilities to its latest software release.
Robots require maps of their surroundings and the objects within it to navigate effectively - these maps can include point clouds, 2D flat maps, 2.5D dense maps (with heights), 3D maps and semantic maps which identify objects (people/tables/chairs/windows etc).
One of the main challenges of robot mapping is that it requires significant compute power, processing time and memory to create these maps. In response, SLAMcore has developed software that uses stereo cameras and inertial sensors to build 2.5D height maps in real-time. The occupied space is represented as a series of columns of different heights which show what space is filled. Mobileye, an Intel Company, Transdev Autonomous Transport System (ATS), part of Transdev Group dedicated to autonomous mobility solutions; and Lohr Group, a mobility solutions manufacturer, today announced a strategic collaboration to develop and deploy autonomous shuttles. The companies are integrating Mobileye s self-driving system into the i-Cristal electric shuttle, manufactured by Lohr Group, with plans to integrate it into public transportation services powered by fleets of self-driving shuttles across the globe, starting in Europe.

ISLAMABAD: The government has accomplished categorisation of all public sector departments, giving them the status of “autonomous body” except two departments i.e. the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan Post Office.
After stiff resistance from the FBR officers and other staff, the federal government has so far deferred its decision to declare the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as an autonomous body (AB) because majority of the staff preferred to remain within the fold of public sector employees. So they opposed any move for classifying it as an autonomous body. ....
