The Walker Area Pregnancy Support Center was blessed this Christmas Season to have received numerous donations through a Giving Tree program from the communities they serve.
Lura Joy Barchus was born to Loren and Mary Barchus in Chaseley, North Dakota on January 19, 1933. She was the 9th of 10 children. Many family photos were taken at gatherings of Mary and Loren, the five sisters, three remaining brothers and their spouses. It was quite a task to get “the girls” to do what was required to take a photo.

Wade Glenn Alexander passed away peacefully at the age of 60 on Monday, June 13, 2022. Wade is survived by his beautiful wife, Tammy, and three daughters; Sarah, Megan and Rachel. Wade was a cook in the Navy, primarily on submarines. He spent most of his post-Navy career as a roofer/contractor running his own successful business, Cross Roofing. Later in life, he owned and ran a cross-country trucking business, Wade’s Trucking, hauling primarily furniture and motorcycles. He spent his last few years expanding his craft, incorporating metals. Wade was a very creative and handy man; he always enjoyed woodworking and creating pieces, always incorporating his own unique style. One of his greatest projects was the log home he designed and built for his family. Every piece of pine was from the property, trees dropped, cut and stained by Wade. Truly a handcrafted masterpiece.

Gail Smith, with the Army Nurse Corps, will speak Sunday, May 30, at the Crosslake Lutheran Church Memorial Day Service.Submitted Photo (May 2021) Memorial Day ceremonies will be held Monday, May 31, in area communities, with one service planned Sunday, May 30, at Crosslake Lutheran Church. Crosslake Lutheran Church will host a more traditional worship service at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary across from the campground. The 10 a.m. outdoor worship will feature a larger community-wide observance at 14019 Daggett Pine Road across from the Crosslake Community Center baseball field.
