It's hard to look at photographs of nine-month-old Kobi Shepherdson.
Those big, blue eyes. The wide smile. The crop of strawberry blonde hair, barely long enough to be gathered up into a little bow. 
It's hard to look because it means thinking about her death.
It means thinking about the fact that her own father was legally allowed to be alone with her that day, despite having a history of domestic violence and having recently faced charges of threatening to kill her.
It means thinking about the fact that he bundled her into a baby carrier, took her to the towering Whispering Wall at Barossa Reservoir, and ended both their lives.

Kobi Shepherdson's father was charged with threatening to kill his infant daughter, and assaulting and imprisoning her mother, months before he killed her in a suspected murder-suicide.
Court documents also reveal that SA Police opposed Henry Shepherdson being released on bail due to "a penchance (sic) to firearms" and a history of related violent offending in Western Australia.

Emergency response call-outs from crews surrounding South Australia's Barossa Valley show the chilling moments leading up to the discovery of a man and a baby who plunged to their deaths on Wednesday.
The man and baby girl died after they fell from the popular Whispering Wall, which is the retaining wall of the Barossa Reservoir, north of Adelaide.
Emergency services rushed to Whispering Wall at 4.30pm on Wednesday following reports from bystanders a man and baby had fallen from the dam wall.
The first responders were paramedics called to the Whispering Wall for a psychiatric incident.

South Australia Whispering Wall: Man who jumped to his death while holding daughter known to police


A man who killed himself along with his nine-month-old daughter Kobi, who was strapped to his body in a baby carrier, was a known domestic violence offender.
Paramedics were called to the famous Whispering Wall dam walkway in South Australia's Barossa Valley at 4.30pm on Wednesday to respond to a psychiatric incident.
On arrival, they found 38-year-old Henry Shepherdson and Kobi at the base of the dam below in what police are now calling a tragic murder suicide. 
Witnesses had desperately tried to talk him down from the safety barrier, Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott said on Thursday, and battled to save the baby girl.
