We have learned that a memorial service is being held today for the 25 year old Danbury woman who was killed in a crash by a wrong way driver last Sunday morning. Funeral services for Danielle Dempsey will take place today, beginning at 11am in the United Jewish Center on Deer Hill Avenue in Danbury. Interment will follow in the United Jewish Center Cemetery on Gray’s Bridge Road in Brookfield.

The Danbury Cultural Commission, invites everyone to Park(ing) Day this Friday (9/15) between 9 and 1 where a city parking space is transformed into a city park for a few hours to promote open space. Look for multiple pop up parks along Main Street. Park(ing) day is a global / public project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into public parks and social spaces to advocate for safer streets. According to a new report, if Danbury were to install fisheye lens video devices at some of the busiest intersections, traffic problems could be alleviated but it comes at a cost. That cost would be around $4 million. Anthony Iadarola is Danbury’s engineer and public works director. He claims that the cameras would be able to monitor traffic conditions, allowing operators to quickly change the timing of traffic lights to keep traffic moving more smoothly. A pending grant application, if approved, would help pay for the cameras.

We have an update today on Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito following his admittance to Danbury Hospital earlier this week for a health issue. According to a release from his office, the Mayor is ‘doing well’ and is now awaiting further medical tests for what was described as a suspected stomach ulcer. As of Thursday, he was still at the hospital. There is no timetable yet for Mayor Esposito’s return to City Hall, and his spokesperson said there are no plans at this time to name an acting mayor.

A search is underway for a missing UConn student who has not been seen since the weekend. University of Connecticut police are looking for 19-year-old Betty Li Furong who was last seen Sunday on campus in the area of Whitney Hall. University police began looking for Furong after her family reported they couldn’t reach her Sunday night. Police now ask anyone who may have seen her or who may know anything about her disappearance, to contact them. Police also stressed that there is no indication that there is any threat or danger posed to the campus community in connection to this particula...
