A message from the superintendent: Thankful for $55-million bond initiative for Linden schools


1. Enhance student safety and school security
2. Expand and enhance the instructional environment
3. Modernize, upgrade and construct school facilities
4.  Upgrade technology and technology infrastructure
The bond has been broken into three different series with a projected timeline of seven to eight years. Construction is planned to begin as early as August of this year. 
The bond proposal calls for numerous projects, including adding a student collaboration center to Linden Elementary School, expanding the Linden High School Media Center to become a student collaboration center, adding secure entrances to Central, Hyatt, and Linden Elementary, Linden Middle School, and Linden High School, relocating our Early Childhood Center from its current location in Argentine to Hyatt Elementary, building a new Multipurpose Center between Linden Middle School and Linden High School, and adding space for robotics instruction and Science, Technology, Engineer, and Ma ....

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - James “Smuggie” Mitchell, who resigned as Charlotte City Council member on Jan. 11, has recommended a replacement to fill his vacant seat.
Mitchell recommended Jessica Davis to serve in his chair as an at-large council member to fulfill the remaining 11 months on this current term.
“Jessica has an understanding of how city government works,” Mitchell wrote in a letter to Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles and members of city council. “Jessica is a team player, and passionate about helping to improve the lives of our citizens. If Jessica is fortunate to receive your vote, I’m confident she will be 100% committed.” ....
