We have to remember that being progressive stance for values of inclusiveness, of tolerance, of acceptance, and we need to think hard about how we characterize various votes of either being within that definition or outside of that. Top challenges facing City Government right now. Over each of the years i have served, we have had to balance budget deficits that were around 500 million. This year, were facing another budget deficit of almost 400 million. Fortunately in recent years, we have had some ability to do some onetime budgeting tricks that allow us to balance the budget that do not exist this year.
