Luis Valcourt-Colón Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division scientist Luis Valcourt-Colón is the program lead for the SeaPerch underwater robotics STEM program at Dahlgren. Valcourt-Colón is a recipient of the Distinguished Community Service Award for his volunteer service with the SeaPerch and SeaGlide programs and with the STEM community at NSWCDD. His citation reads in part, “With innovative ideas, he grew a small outreach program into one of the most effective Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics programs at NSWCDD. His drive and enthusiasm continue to be critical in reaching students and developing the next generation of STEM leaders.” ....

During Operation Iraqi Freedom more than fifteen years ago, former Joint Chief of Staff Gen. Richard Myers described integrated, multi-platform attack as a kind of “fusion,” describing how at the time prototype Global Hawk drones were used to gather real-time intelligence data and network video-feed sensor data to other airborne platforms through ground-based command and control. A Global Hawk, Myers explained, could obtain crucial, time-sensitive war data and network the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) data to several assets such as an Air Force Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) surveillance plane. ....
