The Spencer Chamber Ambassadors visited Faith Lutheran Church Tuesday morning to hear from Rev. Ben Unseth, Bill Neiderheiser and Cheryl Jackson about their new nondenominational after-school program, LifeKids. The LifeKids program is aimed at KinderKids through fifth grade and includes activities such as a daily Bible lesson, independent reading, community service projects, field trips, games, and arts and crafts. Voices on Grand coordinator Arla Kintigh said the monthly event, relocated to Occasions due to ongoing work at Arts on Grand, was well attended Friday night as the audience enjoyed story telling from legislator and mother Megan Jones, poetry from Rev. Ben Unseth and music from artists Molly Brandt and Eric Carreanza, Minneapolis musicians.

Voices on Grand returns Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. will be an evening of laughter and Americana/country music in a new location, Occasions, in Spencer. Iowa Rep. Megan Jones, a resident of Sioux Rapids, will present her talk, “Five Kids, a Dog and a Hog Named Victoria;” while Spencer’s Faith Lutheran Church pastor, Rev. Ben Unseth, will offer family/farm-themed poetry.
