Mary "Francine" (Hupke) Gretch, a retired registered nurse, died of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at Peace Hospice.

Rhode, Thomas E. 90, of Crystal, MN passed away peacefully at home on November 28, 2021. Tom was born on September 11, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN to Bernard “Ben” and Kathleen (Marshall) Rhode.  Tom attended DeLaSalle High School and graduated (1948) with a trade in Sheet Metal Fabrication from Vocational School. Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy and trained at Great Lakes, Illinois (1949).  He served 23 years where he served in various U.S. locations and Cuba; also held Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves until he retired in 1972.  Tom became a partner in Plymouth Our Own Hardware store with his father (Ben) until 1971.  In 1972, Tom founded the company, Rhode’s Lock and Glass, a family owned business which is still in operation today.  He was an active member for Northside Lions, Northside Business, American Legion Post 251 and Knights of Columbus Council 3656, and Minnesota and National Chapters of Associated Locksmiths of America.  Tom enjoyed the cabin in Annandale, MN on French Lake where family joined for various gatherings, water skiing, trick skiing, jet skiing, and many bon fires to laugh and share jokes.  Tom was “all in” showing his family how to have fun and was known for his sense humor and his never ending jokes.  He also enjoyed classic cars along with his 1963 Riviera.  Tom met the love of his life, Lavern (Fries) in 1954 at the Catholic Youth Center and married at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN on July 9, 1955.  They were blessed with 66 years of marriage and 6 children, and resided in Crystal, MN to raise their family.  Together they enjoyed bowling, golf, cribbage, fondue, and card club with family and friends.  They were avid travelers with many fond memories in Florida and Arizona to visit family and also enjoyed many trips throughout the states.  They were faithful members of Saint Joseph Catholic Community – Parish Center in New Hope, MN.  Tom will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.
