Adult day programs work to reopen in Vt. Modified: 4/5/2021 9:16:45 PM BETHEL It will still take weeks to months for three adult day programs in the Upper Valley to reopen following last week’s announcement of new COVID-19 safety guidelines for such programs in Vermont. It looks as though Gifford Health Care’s program on Route 107 in Bethel will be the first such program to reopen in the Upper Valley. It is slated to do so on May 17, according to a document posted to the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living’s website. Ursula Margazano, executive director of Gifford Retirement Community, said in a Monday phone interview that the May date might be overly optimistic, but she’s shooting for it. ....

Vermont this week relaxed its COVID-19 travel restrictions slightly so that residents of border towns can travel across the river in a limited zone without quarantining. “Those living in Vermont may travel 5 miles into adjacent states without quarantining upon return to Vermont. Those living in adjacent states within 5 miles of the Vermont border may travel 5 miles into Vermont without quarantining,” the Agency of Commerce and Community Development announced on its website on Thursday. ....
Registration open for virtual Bethel University classes Modified: 2/26/2021 6:41:03 PM BETHEL Students of all ages can register through March 1 to take virtual classes from Bethel University instructors. Bethel University is a nonprofit organization where participants can take free classes taught by community members. This year, all classes will be held on Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The semester begins March 1 and runs through the end of the month. Among the offerings are “Social Impact Storytelling: Building Community Through Stories,” taught by Rebecca Sanborn Stone; “Video Game Development,” taught by Mark Boettcher; and “Breathwork for Relaxation and Stress Relief,” taught by Lauren Priestap. ....
