After over 2 years of planning and fundraising, Centre Care Rehabilitation and Wellness Services welcomed residents to their new home Wednesday morning.
This brand new Care Facility has been talked about since late 2018. On Wednesday, it became a reality as Residents left Centre Crest for their new home, Centre Care Rehabilitation and Wellness Services. Resident Council President Charlie Myers was the first to arrive this morning, and is looking forward to some new activities, saying: “Oh I like to play a little bit of horseshoe if I can get the people to do it out of their wheelchairs, play a little badminton out there, play a little bit of that thing you use the clubs with to hit the ball on the ground.”

BELLEFONTE — Beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, the nonprofit Centre Care moved residents from Centre Crest in Bellefonte down the road to a brand-new $45-million facility called Centre Care Rehabilitation and Wellness Services in College Township.
“Today is one of the biggest events in our 82-year history and we started getting ready several months ago,” Andrew Naugle, Centre Care’s administrator said.
Twelve vans took turns moving residents and welcoming them to their new home. Once they arrived a team showed them around the new building, helped them unpack, hung pictures and assisted with the residents settling in.

'It's a Great Home for Us.' Centre Crest Residents Move to New Facility in College Township

Starting at 8 a.m. on a beautiful Wednesday, 12 vans began moving residents of Centre Crest nursing facility in Bellefonte to their new home, Centre Care Rehabilitation and Wellness Services in College Township.
The new $45 million facility, located on Persia Road off of Benner Pike, welcomed residents for the first time after about five years of planning and a year and a half of construction.
“It’s a great home for us and the new people that come in,” Charlie Myers, president of the facility’s Residence Council, said. “I think we’re going to be happy with it.”
With a capacity of 240 beds, the new 135,000-square foot Centre Care facility is about twice the size of the 83-year-old Centre Crest on East Howard Street. A central building is flanked by two wings and in addition to traditional long-term care, it has three specialty “neighborhoods” for memory care, high acuity care and short-term rehab. It also includes an on-site dialysis suite and a larger therapy gym.
