again. the trials and other things like that is what the team was responsible for. >> martha: talk to me about the items that are in this. part of the experience of going to the 9/11 museum, it's that the pictures tell you everything and the voices tell you so much. what is the experience going to be like? >> to things, the things you're going to see, artifacts and the evidence are things that up until now have pretty much only been seen by the intelligence community. the u.s. government has really shared a great deal with the 9/11 museum to put on exhibits. what you're going to hear are the actual people, the analysts, the six people part of the raid talking about what that job was light, with the mission was like. >> martha: the man, the blood tests on the ground at the bin laden compound. >> talks about many different ways the c ci used.
for the department of defense. >> does it raise questions for you about how the president views the military, the fact that he hasn't been to a combat zone, the fact that he doesn't go to arlington on veterans day and the fact that within the last 48 hours that he chose to go after admiral william mcraven who was in charge of special operations during the raid on the bin laden compound when you were the director of national intelligence. >> well, to me it causes me to question just the extent of the president's sincerity about his purported support for the military. i thought his failure to go to arlington cemetery and his lame excuse that he had phone calls to make, he would have been better served not to have said why he didn't go. if you're going to be called by the president of the united states they will take a call at any time of the day and i don't know why he couldn't spare a couple hours to make the trip to
and during that time there was such tremendous expansion. >> what we knew and what the obama administration knew, because it was in the documents seized from osama bin laden's compound, was that this was being centrally run. osama bin laden was still in charge. he was actively in touch through his surrogate with vocal holland , with the taliban, and with the growing movement in iraq and syria. he was still running the show, but that didn't fit in the administrations we've won this narrative. if they cherry picked 17 documents out of the hundreds of thousands that fit the narrative and said we released them. and thank god our own stephen hayes foundation for defense of democracy and others have been pushing for the declassification of these documents so that we can see that al qaeda is alive and well. we have to keep up this fight and that we are in a global war against islamic extremism. >> martha: as you point out, they knew. if they saw in those documents.
what that then-president said. watch this. >> for the first time in two decades, osama bin laden is not a threat to this country. slowly and systematically, we have been able to decimate the ranks of al qaeda. al qaeda is on the path to defeat and osama bin laden is dead. >> martha: gm is alive and osama bin laden is dead. remember all that? michael waltz, from a terrorism advisor to cheney. also a fox news contributor. good to see you tonight. >> thanks, martha. >> martha: your mind goes back to the political moment then. that was very much the narrative that the obama administration wanted everyone to believe, that al qaeda was on the run, bin laden was dead and it was over basically, there was nothing to fear out there. this new report from "the new york times" points out, among other things, but there were 470,000 files that were released by the trump administration that were from the bin laden compound.
did u.s. intelligence agencies play with the pakistanis in helping this recovery. the pakistanis are saying that u.s. intelligence that helped them track this family, because remember they were abducted in afghanistan, crossed the border into pakistan on october the 11th. if that is true, this release, this recovery happened remarkably quickly. remember with the raid on the bin laden compound, the pakistanis were not read in. so if there is more intelligence sharing, that will have benefits throughout the south asia region which is a big priority for secretary mattis and secretary tillerson. >> it's also interesting when you talk about the president's overtures toward pakistan. last night he made an interesting comment. i'll play it and then we'll get into it. listen. >> something happened today where a country that totally disrespected us called with some very, very important news. and one of my generals came in,
trying to save hundreds of thousands of lives is of value. if that requires doing some things that don't follow the rules -- i mean, there is no normal protocol when you are fighting demons. we have to understand that and deal with it realistically. these guys were charged with doing something that they could go to jail for, maybe. they still go and did it and so would you if you knew that somebody's kid's life was on the line. >> kimberly: absolutely. it jesse. >> jesse: these psychologists are patriots and the aclu make me sick. leon panetta, republican and democratic both have said that it enhanced led to intelligence that led to the assault on the bin laden compound. it also broke up terror cells and preventative mass casualty attacks and also enabled us to gain knowledge of the infrastructure, network, and financing of the al qaeda network. this is not you hammering a nail
