On Thursday, a US Coast Guard official announced at a press conference that the five people aboard the missing submersible died in what appears to have been a "catastrophic implosion".
Five people on a tourist submersible that went missing near the wreck of the Titanic in the North Atlantic are believed to be dead.
"These men were true explorers who shared a distinct spirit of adventure, and a deep passion for exploring," OceanGate said in a statement.
