Gunther was born in Chicago in 1925 and, as an 18-year-old, joined the Marines to fight in the Pacific theater during WWII in 1943.

For 20 years, Brad Hoopes of Loveland has been preserving the stories of local heroes and donating the recordings to the Library of Congress as part of its Veterans History Project.

Far too often, politicians approach a problem with “just do something, anything” and/or “I need to look like I’m doing something, anything” without any thought or concern with the outcome or results. They then double down and try and keep the focus on the “look what I did” instead of evaluating the results from “what I did,” especially when these results show a failing or failed outcome.
