Keith Haskell, who later identified himself as an investigator with the National Action Task Force, chastised the board during the public forum portion of the meeting with allegations of taking away citizens’ rights. He noted the board’s rules for public forums and the district’s mask mandate.

"I've developed a thick enough skin through the years. Unfortunately, the words themselves don't hurt, necessarily. I'll admit that I just kind of move on with my life because I'm used to a lot of those words as probably a lot of my counterparts here have. The difficult part are those around me, who choose to sit this one out. That's a difficult place to be. But that being said, it isn't all bad. “I’m with them,” he said of those who signed the petition. “I don’t believe that we should start the school year with a mandatory mask mandate.
