EAST GREENWICH – Tensions between the East Greenwich town council and school committee eased at a joint meeting of the two bodies Monday night.
Arthur Masterson, of Warwick, Rhode Island, was surprised with the official high school diploma from East Greenwich schools as a Christmas gift from his family.
Arthur Masterson, 96, joined the U.S. Navy in April of 1945 when he was still in high school. He didn't get his diploma until December 2023.
A WWII veteran received his high school diploma after leaving high school to join the Army.
