Emboldened by a lack of pushback, people are expressing hate more openly, council chair Brian Schupper said. “We’re seeing this doubling every couple of years. That’s pretty disturbing,” he said. “That says we’ve got to do a better job as a community of saying, there’s no place for hate. We’re not going to tolerate it.” The council verified 99 incidents or expressions of anti-Semitism in 2020, compared with 47 in 2018.
