Amagi Media Labs: Amagi Media expects to turn profitable soon

Amagi's growth rate has tapered as its revenue base has broadened, with annual recurring revenue (ARR) topping $100 million amidst global movement among broadcasters to shift from hardware to cloud-based distribution. "We've been growing almost 100% a year over the last 3-4 years. At $100 million ARR, you cannot do another 100% growth. We hope to grow by 30-40% going forward," Amagi Media Labs cofounder & CEO Baskar Subramanian said.

Delhi HC seeks Trai's response on MSOs plea

While Trai had on August 8 issued the consultation paper on issues pertaining to tariff, interconnection and quality of service of broadcasting and cable services, the Consultation Paper “fails to meet the standard of transparency,” the cable body stated in its petition filed through counsel Swapnil Gupta. Terming the “narrowed scope of the impugned Consultation Paper” as being “irrational” and violative of Article 14 of the Constitution, the cable body said its demand for combining different offerings of broadcasters will reduce consumer cost and allow a more diverse offering to be made.

SC asks broadcasters to suggest mechanism to bring discipline in news channels

The Supreme Court wants to strengthen the self-regulatory mechanism for news channels to bring discipline while protecting freedom of speech and expression. The court has asked the two representative bodies of news channels to make suggestions and posted the matter for hearing in four weeks. The court's order came on a petition filed by the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) against a decision of the Bombay High Court. The NBA's self-regulatory authority, the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA), has been found to be ineffective. The court also allowed the rival News Broadcasters Federation (NBF) to submit its guidelines. | Latest News India
