White Plains Hospital of Montefiore Health System opens new facility

The Mount Vernon proposal, which would have closed the hospital and added an outpatient center, was put on hold in October amid community pushback. The status of that plan was not immediately available from Montefiore.
The organization s leaders beamed on Wednesday, though, at the sight of White Plains Hospital s latest addition.
The facility, at the end of the hospital s campus at the corner of Maple and Longview avenues, includes operating rooms, endoscopy, ambulatory and procedure suites, wound care delivered through hyperbaric chambers, advanced imaging, non-invasive diagnostic testing and specialty physician offices.

A statement by the hospital said its addition includes Westchester County s first PET (positron emission tomography) MRI scan, which provides a higher level of detailed views than traditional MRI, allowing for more precise diagnosis and treatment. ....
