The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory until 11 p.m. tomorrow for portions of south-central, southwest, and west-central Illinois. The jet stream is pushing into the upper Midwest keeping storms and cooler temperatures to our north. This will allow dangerous heat to build into our region. Today looks to be the hottest day of the week, with heat indices as warm as 112 degrees and high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. According to the National Weather Service portions of the listening area to the east and north of are rated at a level 2 out of 5, or Slight risk for severe weather. Our immediate listening area is rated at a Marginal risk for severe weather, or level 1 out of 5. The public is being reminded to adhere to precautionary preparedness actions, such as, drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking up on relatives and neighbors.
