Three sites of special architectural or historical interest could soon be added to the Island s registered buildings list.
Proposals To Register (PTR) were issued for the Cosy Nook in Port Erin, Trafalgar House in Douglas and the Mitre in Kirk Michael.
A three week consultation on each building will be held before a final decision is made.
If entered onto the list, the former pub, current pub, and former seaside cafe will be protected from demolition or changes without first receiving consent.
Trafalgar House and the Cosy Nook were saved from demolition after DEFA stepped in with Building Preservation Notices last year (BPN). ....

A former beachside café and a Victorian pub are among three buildings being considered for inclusion to a list of the Island’s registered buildings.
The Cosy Nook in Port Erin, Trafalgar House in Douglas and the Mitre in Kirk Michael were all issued with Proposal to Register Notices (PRN) on Monday, due to their potential special architectural or historical interest.
A three week consultation for each building will now be used to gather further information with a final decision made soon after.
If it is decided that one or more of the buildings meet the criteria they will be protected from demolition, and any alteration or extension that affects their character without first receiving registered building consent. ....

Two well-known buildings have been issued with Building Preservation Notices (BPN) to temporarily protect their future.
The government issued the notices on the Cosy Nook, Shore Road, Port Erin and Trafalgar House, South Quay in Douglas on Tuesday.
Port Erin Commissioners recently voted to demolish the Cosy Nook, which is the subject of a planning application to demolish and replace the building with a new facility.
Concerns have also been raised that Trafalgar House, which is thought to be around 200 years old, is at risk from damage due to its proximity to nearby demolition works. ....

Government is stepping into protect the Cosy Nook and Trafalgar House from demolition.
The two well-known buildings have been issued with Building Preservation Notices (BPN) to temporarily protect their future.
The notices don t mean the buildings will be registered but they do allow time for further investigations to be carried out, so they can be considered for entry to the Protected Buildings Register in 2021.
