"Shin Ukkaṭṭha” in local periodicals, newspapers, journals, and history is recognized as “the revolutionary thinker and monk of Burma." Given the number of norms he has broken in his life, he certainly deserved the label. Even those who opposed his interpretation of Buddhism have ultimately come to the conclusion that, despite the criticism, they are left with no other option than to either "become the laughing stock" or "adopt the interpretation of Shin Ukkaṭṭha" in order to appropriate Buddhism in light of modern knowledge, science, and education. Buddhism in Burma had to undergo significant change, particularly in the twenty-first century, to avoid becoming the laughing stock of the country's youthful and intelligent populace. Many of the concepts stated by "Shin Okkahta," which had previously been suppressed, had to be resurrected by today's progressive Buddhist monks. ....

Ted Grant was a South African white Trotskyist who founded British Trotskyist groups such as Militant and later Socialist Appeal, a predecessor of the International Marxist Tendency. So-called Trotskyists who blindly follow the ideological cult of international Marxist tendencies tend to believe that Ted Grant firmly follows the ideas of Trotsky. After Myanmar’s military coup on Feb. 1, some military personnel have joined the civil disobedience movement and left the armed forces.
The National Union Government (NUG), a shadow cabinet formed to rival the military regime, has urged personnel to mutiny and join the NUG’s People’s Defence Force.
It is widely believed that a counter-coup by disgruntled military officers or a large-scale mutiny could resolve the crisis.
However, analysts say any major mutiny is unlikely because of the leadership’s tight grip on personnel, including their families. Generally, the immediate family of personnel live inside military camps. ....
