LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - During tornadic weather, many turn to public shelters but, where are they and how are public shelters planning to protect people against severe weather and contracting COVID-19?
Stephens County Emergency Management official Gary Curtis said, for Stephens County residents, the public shelter is located in the courthouse on the ground level.
“Most all injuries and deaths occur from those being outside from flying debris,” he said, “not from actually in the homes themselves and that’s what we’re more concerned about because a lot of people wait until the last minute and the danger is a lot higher with them trying to come all the way here to the shelter.” ....

COMANCHE COUNTY, Okla. (TNN) - A car ended up in a ditch during a crash Friday evening.
A 7News photographer at the scene says the driver was eastbound on cache when they left the roadway, possibly for a medical issue.
The car crossed over paint road before crashing into a ditch.
The driver was taken to the hospital for their injuries.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (TNN) - Standardized testing for Oklahomaâs schools will resume this year despite COVID 19 and distance learning for some students.
Unlike last year Oklahoma State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister confirmed test waivers would not be granted for students.
It comes after the Biden Administrationâs announcement that states must resume standardize testing this Spring.
Because Covid-19 caused interruptions and set backs for students she says itâs vital to learn where they are academically after an unprecedented school year. ....
