Officers issued the urgent warning as a presidential inauguration rehearsal was underway, just two days before Joe Biden is sworn in. Participants outside the Capitol were rushed inside the building, according to a witness. People were then told to stay put while police investigated the threat. The warning was announced on a loudspeaker at the landmark location.

The U.S. Capitol complex temporarily locked down on Monday during a rehearsal for President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration after a fire in a homeless encampment about a mile away sent a plume of smoke into the air and caused security concerns.
