Almost a week after a commercial vessel capsized off the coast of Louisiana, the U.S. Coast Guard has made the decision to suspend its search for the ship s remaining missing crew members.
Out of the 19 passengers aboard the Seacor Power vessel, six have been rescued, five have been found dead, and eight remain missing, according to Captain Will Watson, the commander of Coast Guard Sector New Orleans.
We ve had to make the difficult decision to suspend search and rescue efforts at sunset today, Watson announced during a press conference on Monday. This does not mean the case is closed. At any time, we might receive new information that would compel us to resume the search. But with that said, our focus will begin to shift. ....

Coast Guard suspends search for missing Seacor Power crewmembers

The Coast Guard is suspending the search for the eight crewmembers from the Seacor Power lift boat that capsized off the coast of Lafourche Parish. Captain Will Watson says suspending a search is one of the toughest decisions they have to make and he describes the meeting they had with the families of the victims.
“There’s a lot of hugging and a lot of crying and a lot of sadness and grief, but there’s also a lot of hope and a lot of faith still,” said Watson.
Seacor Marine President John Gellert says 17 divers will continue to search the capsized lift boat as they remain committed to recovering all of the missing. He says the divers have been through half of the vessel. ....
