While the Saskatoon Blades won this year’s season series over the Prince Albert Raiders, the Raiders were able to prevent their archrivals from sweeping all four of their meetings in the Western Hockey League’s East Division hub in Regina with an impressive 4-0 performance on Thursday afternoon.
“I’ve been a part of some pretty big wins here with the Raiders and this is right up there,” Raiders forward Ozzy Wiesblatt said.

The Regina Pats were able to finally best their rivals, the Saskatoon Blades, for the first time in the WHL hub.
Regina posted a 4-2 victory Tuesday at the Brandt Centre.
“Against them, it’s big because they had our number,” Pats head coach Dave Struch said after the game. “They pushed back on us and we responded well.
“I know they had some guys out of the lineup but they play a really good game — they play hard and they play physical. We did some things that we have seen flashes of in this shortened season and we’ve built on last game and did things right.”

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Rookie Connor Levis capped his best performance with his fourth power-play goal of the game midway through the third period as the Kamloops Blazers topped the Kelowna Rockets 6-2 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League play.
Levis scored twice in his WHL debut, then went eight games without a goal before exploding for four against Kelowna.
Inaki Baragano added a fifth power-play goal for the Blazers (8-2-0), while Montana Onyebuchi scored at even strength 1:45 into the game.
David Kope and Mark Liwiski, shorthanded, found the back of the net for the Rockets (3-2-0), who trailed 4-0 after a period of play.

Carter Chorney and Ryker Evans both picked up two points as the Regina Pats doubled up the Saskatoon Blades 4-2 Tuesday night.
Roddy Ross made 20 saves in the win, the Pats first against the rival Blades this season.
Pats Coach Dave Struch said the last two games, which includes a 4-3 win over Prince Albert on Sunday, have been the team’s best efforts of the year from top to bottom.
“Everyone was good, I mean our goalie was good again, we are playing physical, and I think that game against Prince Albert was a real good development game for us, as far as playing with courage,” Struch said. ” I think more than anything we understand what it takes to win, we’re playing hard, like it’s the playoffs, Struch added”

Rough one for Raiders in Regina; Tre Cool gets first WHL goal and 2-pt night

It may have been a Sunday night game, deep into a bizarre season where spectators are not allowed in the building, and players are trapped in their dorms or the rink.
But as far the Prince Albert Raiders and Regina Pats were concerned, they both played for keeps in what was easily one of the most physical and chippy contests of this Subway Hub Centre. The Pats ended up rolling away with a 4-3 victory to put both teams at identical records at 7-9-2-1.
“It was a good game, it was hard-fought. I thought Regina brought it early and it kinda had us on our heels a little bit. Then once we gathered ourselves, we were good,” Raiders head coach Marc Habscheid said. “I thought we played good. It’s interesting with these types of games for evaluation purposes, some guys want these games and other guys don’t want these games.”

Once the Prince Albert Raiders offence got rolling on Tuesday night, it was hard for the Regina Pats to slow them down.
The Raiders scored four times in nearly five-and-a-half minutes during the second period of play as they would go on to pick up a 4-2 victory over the Pats at the Brandt Centre.
“I thought that was one of our best team games so far here,” Raiders head coach Marc Habscheid said. “We’ve lost a key defenceman with Nolan Allan leaving (for the World Under-18’s) and I thought our young guys did a good job of stepping up on the blueline and moving the puck up the ice.”
