Lee Select Board greenlights marijuana shop at Cork 'N Hearth site

LEE — Lee is a step closer to getting its second recreational marijuana store.
After a two-hour public hearing Tuesday night, the Select Board unanimously backed a special permit for Forest Wilde LLC to convert the Cork ‘N Hearth into a facility to manufacture and sell marijuana products.
The 3-0 vote followed mixed support for the project, dominated by the potential impact the facility would have on traffic on the state highway.
The Zoom meeting also featured comments and dozens of letters from Lee residents, along with several Berkshire businesspeople, saying the company should have a chance to succeed.
But, Lakehouse Inn owner Cody Gavin felt that the marijuana store didn’t belong next door to his establishment.

Lee Select Board sets hearing date for controversial pot shop

LEE â€” Critics and proponents of the town's proposed second retail recreational marijuana store get to have their say early next month.
The Lee Select Board on May 4 will hear the pros and cons of Forest Wilde LLC's special permit application to manufacture cannabis products and sell them at an outlet on Route 20.
The public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be a Zoom meeting. The online link to the meeting will be posted on the town's website, www.lee.ma.us.; to find it, click on public meetings/notices.
The permit is for the property that now houses the Cork 'N Hearth restaurant on Route 20, on the shore of Laurel Lake. The long-established eatery, sandwiched between the Lenox town beach and Lakehouse Inn, remains open for dine-in and take-out dinners Wednesday through Saturday, according to its website.
