Every year, the Gateway City’s parishioners and believers of the virgin attend church for a special mass in her honor that features matachines who dance in a ritualistic style to celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe. This year, due to the pandemic, things were very different here and in the sister city of Nuevo Laredo. In Laredo, the festivities were restricted to some extent by the Catholic Diocese of Laredo, which has restricted church attendance to just certain percentage of parishioners.
