Greg and Cathy Sims, of Williamsburg are Celebrating their 50th Anniversary, April 16. Greg and Cathy were married in 1971 after meeting at a local pub, in New Jersey. They raised 2 sons, Brad & Joel and have 8 grandchildren. After retiring, they settled in Williamsburg, in 2012, where they maintain a small Rescue Farm. Greg retired from Barnes Distribution as a Business Developer and Cathy retired from Municipal Finance. Both of them have been involved in community activities during the past 50 years. They served as adult leaders in the Boy Scouts of America for decades. Greg has been a member of the Marine Corps League for over 40 years and is currently Commandant of the JC Paul Detachment. ....

(WLBT) - Students at Jackson State University were greeted with a welcome site Friday – truckloads of bottled water brought in by Mississippi State University. Students on the West Jackson campus have been without water for weeks, as the city works to restore service following the February winter storms. As of Friday, about 1,200 student residents were still without water, according to a news release. ....
The United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign locally has faced a similar predicament as many other charitable endeavors this year. Because of COVID-19, donations are down significantly while demand for the program has increased. “Unfortunately, this year, it is only two toys per kids, a couple of books and a pile of stocking stuffers. Donations have been drastically reduced this year,” said Greg Sims, the coordinator for Whitley, Knox and Laurel County Campaign. By comparison, last year each child received four toys. While the local campaign helped nearly 5,000 children last year, this year it is serving almost 6,000 children. ....
