Woman focuses on 'fight to stay alive' after settlement

RTÉ Courts Reporter A 32-year-old woman who is seriously ill with cancer has settled her case against the HSE over the reading of her cervical smear tests. Speaking outside court afterwards, Lynsey Bennett said she could now "focus on my own fight to stay alive as long as I can". Her case was due to start at the High Court today but was settled through mediation. Ms Bennett, who has two young daughters, had four smear tests between 2010 and 2016, but each time was told they were negative. A MOTHER-of-two who is seriously ill with cervical cancer has settled her High Court action over the alleged misinterpretation of her cervical smear slides. Lynsey Bennett (32) sobbed as a letter of regret was read out in the court from the head of CervicalCheck national screening programme . Outside court Ms Bennett said she can now focus on her own fight to stay alive for as long as she can.
