senate. mitch mcconnell worries aloud that it may block his return to the senate majority. and democrats say thousands of new irs agents will replace retir rees and improve customer service. up first for us, though, a new deadline and legal siren for the former president donald trump. federal prosecutors now have until next week to tell a judge what portions of the affidavit should stay secret. the judge disagreeing with the justice department say they are pieces of that document that could be made public without harming the case. they argued the probably cause for that warrant application. we learned the affidavit relies on substantial grand jury information and prosecutors say a full and public release of the document would lay out all to see the road map for the justice department s case, including next critical steps. we also got a glimpse of a new document with new allegations against the former president quoting willful retention of national information, language ....
But 50,000 are expected to retire over the next few years. they say they have 10 million cases backlogged, overhall of technology, improve taxpayer customer service. but the changes haven t taken place yet, so it s kind of tee ball for republicans, and back to your point, suspicion about the deep state or anything washington. i remember getting a fund raising text to my phone saying first there s the raid on trump, then the irs, and then they re coming for your guns. it s just kind of refrigerator magnets of fear, and you put all the words together and say send money here. i think that s something people need to be aware of. this is not a policy discussion about the irs. this is positioning a government agency as the big bad, and i don t think that s so far out of line for a party that has always believed in small government. and a party that look midterm elections mostly, again we ll see if this breaks the rules, ....
President. does he very well and he s disciplined when he s not competing. but he got wrapped around the axle about the hyde amendment and people didn t find that too convincing. when you look at florida. it is so tight. maybe a newspaper editorial will not do it but it is a 1% state and now it is a less than 1% state. yes the governor desantis and senator rick scott did win and it is less than 1%. and then when you look at michigan where democrats have been on the march and wisconsin where republicans have lost their eighth. this is going to be very tight in all of the battleground states. but florida is particularly key. because what we saw in 2018 is the shy trump voter. desantis trailing polls. and then pulls it out fairly convincingly on election day. same thing happened if you look at the arc of the polls over the course of 2016, trump pulls it out in the last couple of days. number of factors there. so the demographic changes haven t helped democrats the way they thought. but ....
Favor of these changes haven t necessarily been made in the way that would bring people on board. you got people on the left but i m thinking about bernie sanders populace for some people actually agree on immigration and uncontrolled low-wage. it s really a trifecta. the aca and the wall but also the crazy 1965 immigration law. we have also the weird stuff going on, we have 50000 people admitted through the lottery and that s nonsense. we should be trying to admit skilled workers, and if that s got to be right wing in any way, hack, it is the canadian system, what s right-wing about that. that is what the trump administration has always wanted. that trifecta. there were offered to parts a year ago with chuck schumer. he said let s do the wall and let s do dac eight now will talk about the plan later which will happen, but right now i don t think trump should do a deal that doesn t have part of the 65 ....
It s natural for both sides to come together. if i were the democrats i d take the deal but i said this time again and i still believe this with my entire heart and being, they are going to run into so many eminent domain issues in texas alone that it is going to be impossible to complete any sort of wall in any short. of time. the democrats should take video and then have a caveat within the legislation because chad is right and it is up to the legislature that if there is, for some reason, a legal holdup, that money is reappropriated back to another agency or better yet back to the american people. so you ve been a great advocate for what i describe in my language of positive populism and i think this question of immigration and the impact of immigration is so central because in your book the republican workers party, it seems to me that the argument in favor of these changes haven t necessarily been made in the way ....
