First on 13. A nearly four hour standoff in Dallas County has come to an end. And a man police linked to two homicides in des moines is in custody. The bodies of 36 year old bryon howard and 31 year old Heather Belieu were discovered in this home on Center Street monday afternoon. They were both shot to death. Police identified 39 year old Michael Wanchanic as a person of interest in the case. Wanchanic is believed to be the victims roommate. Hes been transferred to the polk county jail. Light rain is falling in spots early this morning. Temperatures will be cooler north and west of des moines and this is where it will be icy. A winter storm warning is in effect until 6 pm in between atlantic and mason city. The city of metro is under an advisory until 6 pm. This morning a mix of some snow, freezing rain, and rain will fall in central iowa. The precipitation will be all snow in northwest iowa through the day. We may see some slushy snow mix in with the precipitation on and off through the day in des moines, especially north and west of the metro. But overall, the afternoon for the city of des moines looks to be primarily rain. Less than an inch of snow may fall in des moines by the time the system pulls out tuesday morning. Northwest iowa is were the snow will accumulate and is where 3 to 6 is possible. Only rain will fall in southeast iowa.
