PARIS: Chelsea reached the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday despite a 1-1 draw at home to Ajax while Lyon also progressed after brushing aside Benfica in France.
The surprisingly long UEFA Champions League season for Ajax women is over. Reaching the semi-finals seemed impossible after the 0-3 loss against Chelsea in Amsterdam last week, and that proved to be the case at Chelsea's stadium Stamford Bridge. The Amsterdammers had chances to win the game against a much-rotated Chelsea side, but it finished in a draw: 1-1.
