People aren't paying anymore than they used to pay. since august 1st what's happened has been really terrific. we're finding more and more people are checking bags and carrying less on-board. the result of that is that people who are still carrying on-board now find space for their bag right above their seat. they don't have to have it taken away from them because it won't fit. more and more people are checking bags. it is a less stressful environment. we've reduced our boarding times by about 8 to 10 minutes. it is lightning-fast to get on and off the airplanes now and nobody is paying anymor...

At spirit never checked a bag. yet there's a lot of expenses for checking bags. tugs, carts, employees, insurance. bag belts, mechanics to keep all that stuff working. it half the people don't check barks everyone would have to pay a higher ticket price for those who do, and we think it's fundamentally unfair to charge someone for services they don't use. so the checked bag fee fixed that problem as it charged those who checked bags but didn't charge those who don't and our new carry-on fee does the same thing. we've lowered fares for everyone. so if you carry on a bag, you pay. if you don't, ...
