By Anne Wen
Chauvin, 45, was convicted of second-and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
He faces 12-1/2 years in prison. On May 25, 2020, a clerk for a Cup Foods convenience store called police to report that Floyd had used a fake $20 bill to buy cigarettes.
Chauvin, who is white, was captured on a video pinning George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, to the ground for over nine minutes.
The footage went viral and spurred civil rights protests across the United States, including Guam.
Talysa Kakas, 21, and her friends organized two Black Lives Matter protests around the Chief Quipuha Park statue in Hagåtña.
