Montgomery County task force to combat child exploitation, human trafficking and find missing children

NORRISTOWN â A recently formed Montgomery County task force focusing on human trafficking and child exploitation handled its first case this week and safely returned a 15-year-old county girl who ran away from home, according to authorities.
The girl, who was unharmed, was found within 24 hours in a hotel in Atlantic City and safely returned. It was the collaboration of task force detectives and New Jersey State Police that led to the quick return of the teenager, according to officials.
While officials said no specific details about the girl who ran away can be shared, they highlighted the case to announce the creation of the new Human Trafficking/Child Exploitation Task Force that is a partnership between the Montgomery County Detective Bureau, five police departments and the Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center. ....

(ELKTON, MD) – Troopers arrested and charged a Cecil County man early Monday morning after a Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation developed evidence supporting charges of distribution and possession of child pornography.
The suspect is identified as William Burroughs, 27, of Elkton, Maryland. Burroughs is charged with six counts of distribution of child pornography and six counts of possession of child pornography. He was transported to the Maryland State Police North East Barrack for processing.
Beginning in October 2020, the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into the distribution and possession of child pornography online. At about 6:50 a.m. this morning, Maryland State Police, assisted by the FBI Maryland Child Exploitation Task Force and the Elkton Police Department, served a search warrant at ....

Elkton man facing child porn charges after raid

ELKTON â A man is facing 12 child pornography charges after investigators raided his Elkton residence on Monday morning, ending a six-month-long investigation, according to the Maryland State Police.
Investigators identified the suspect as 27-year-old William Burroughs, who is charged with six counts each of distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography, police reported.
MSP investigators conducted a court-approved search of Burroughsâ residence shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, after developing him as a suspect, and they arrested him there during that raid, police said. Green Island man sentenced to 151 months on child porn charges

ALBANY, N.Y. â A 48-year-old Green Island manÂ was recently sentenced to 151 months in prison for receiving and possessing child pornography.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon and Thomas F. Relford, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
As part of his previously entered guilty plea,Â Arthur L. GurbeyÂ admitted to possessing 101 videos and 90 images of child pornography, which were found on a phone that Gurbey was carrying when he was arrested after attempting to meet with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. ....
