West Virginia Senate President Craig Blair was one of four Republican Senate incumbents unseated in Tuesday May 14 2024 night s primary election, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of State s Office.
Blair’s loss marks the second time since 2020 that a Senate president failed to dominate his primary. Just four years ago, Senate Amy Grady, R-Mason beat Senate President Mitch Carmichael.
In addition to Blair, the Republican-dominated Senate will be without Mike Maroney, R-Marshall; Chandler Swope, R-Mercer; and Robert Karnes, R-Randolph, when the 2025 regular session begins.
Senate President Blair is defeated in primary as are incumbents Maroney, Swope and Karnes
