After 23 villages have been included in the municipal limits this year in addition to the earlier 11, the
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has requested an extra five thousand million cubic feet (TMC) water from
Mulshi dam from the state government to meet the ever increasing water requirement.
PMC’s proposal will be first on this issue sent to the
City Improvement Committee (CIC) and the standing committee for approval, which will then go to the state irrigation department for the extra share for water. ....

Nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) working on
transport issues in Pune have come together to criticise the City Improvement Committee’s (CIC) decision to make the left turn free for motorists, which will allow them to do so without having to wait for signals.
They have written to the
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for reconsideration as this could create more threats for pedestrians who are vulnerable to accidents in such cases.
The decision was taken by the PMC’s CIC recently on December 17 to make the left turn free as a part of the civic body’s aim to keep a check on congestion at traffic ....

The corporators pointed out that encroachment at traffic junctions and signal for vehicles turning left was causing congestion. So, all the junctions in the city should be cleared of encroachment and widened along with a trial for free left movement for vehicles.
