Overwhelmed Steve receives prestigious Borough award

Saturday (May 1) proved to be another red letter day for intrepid schoolteacher, explorer and super fund-raiser Steve Hill.
Steve, who has been the Deputy Headteacher at the St Joseph’s primary school in Shaw for 17 years and runs his own ‘Team Hill Charitable Trust’, received a hugely prestigious Civic Appreciation Award from the town of Oldham, presented by Mayor Councillor Ginny Alexander.
The award is in recognition of his significant contribution, dedication and charitable work for the local community and Borough of Oldham. ....

The plaudits have been plentiful for Oldham teacher Steve Hill since he embarked on his monumental fundraising effort by taking on some of the toughest challenges right around the world.
Included in that is, of course, a trip to Buckingham Palace to receive an MBE and becoming an Ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards which has seen him appear regularly on the lawns of the Palace inspiring those who have taken part in the award.
Now the primary school teacher, who has founded his own charity, is to be honoured by his home town. ....
