Alabama prison system reports 5 more inmates with COVID-19 have died Updated Dec 10, 2020; The ADOC has now reported a total of 43 deaths related to the coronavirus. Two weeks ago, the Associated Press reported that Alabama had the nation’s ninth highest rate of inmate deaths per 100,000 according to a report compiled by AP and the Marshall Project. Four of the deaths announced today have happened since Monday. Jeffery Bailey, 58, died Nov. 27.
