i want to bring in mark preston to talk about with what all of this means. i guess in a way mark, we knew that things were partisan. that s not surprising. but if you look at how pew researchers measure this, 48 different ways of measuring how we feel about politics over the years, and they find that we re more divided than ever. almost double over the past 25 years. why? you know suzanne, talk about a comprehensive study that pew has done now, you know, there s a lot of reasons. and what s interesting is that it shows that not only are we more divided politically but also seeing a growing middle. you know, a grow withing number of folks not aligning themselves entirely with the democratic party or the republican party. i think what you see is frustration out there right now on how to lead forward. i think you might be able to tie in the fact that social media has become so prevalent in helping organize people, you know, ten years ago we didn t have facebook or twitte ....

not necessarily legitimately because both leading democrats and leading republicans say wisconsin is its own microcosm, but the reason it is so relevant is because debt and spending have been major issues there. those are major national issues. and many of the big picture issues we seen play out across the nation are playing out in wisconsin right now, namely money and the influence of super pacs. an independent nonpartisan group estimates dlfr 70 million to $80 million will be spent in the state of wisconsin. that s mind blowing in to a state where air time is so inexpensive. governor walker has outspent his democrat 7 to 1. governor walker today has raised $30.5 million to the democrat barrett s $4 million. that s not even taking into account how much labor unions and super pacs are pouring in. then there s the ore big question that both sides, democrats and republicans are using this as an opportunity to organize the state for november. kate? absolutely. the numbe ....

on the first people magazine most beautiful people. michelle pfeiffer. she joins me to talk about marriage and good movies. i remember that magazine cover. it was the first one. i didn t know that. do you remember when they asked you to do this? how did that come about? well, i probably thought it was kind of silly at the time. and i there it is. oh, look at me. and i probably, you know, was embarrassed by the whole thing and i had a movie coming out. so you know. people must bring it up. is it a hard thing to live up to all these years later? the older you get, yes. you re definitely more scrutinized for sure. probably the aging process is harder to give into. you know, when you end up on magazines like that. you look absolutely fantastic. i don t want to be overly a fan here. but you look really good. you re very sweet. i want to play a clip of one of my favorite movies of all time in part because it had you. but it s one of these movies. take ....

i m erin burnett. we are getting exit polls from wisconsin where republican governor scott walker is fighting to keep his job in what likely is the most expensive recall election. the results of the election will say a lot about how the state and the country is going to go in november. that, of course, is the $64 trillion question. john king with the exit poll numbers. what is crossing right now? could be the $80 million question. the results are fascinating. we are going to be up late tonight. this is a very close race. what started all this? a big fight over efforts to restrict collective bargaining rights to get union members to pay more for health care. our union members dominating the vote today. interesting question. 32% of the vote is in the recall election say someone in their house hold is a union member. it was in the 20s in the 2010 election. this tells you the labor unions are getting turnout. we are seeing other data suggesting republican voters are comin ....
