The Classic Connection, DeKalb High School’s show choir, and Encore!, Garrett High School’s show choir, have each qualified for the state finals.

CRAWFORDSVILLE — Classic Connection, DeKalb High School’s show choir, brought home numerous awards from the Southmont Mountie Nation Invitational Saturday.

The first and last units in a production line are always very special with car collectors, even with newer models. This 1965 Aston Martin DV6 Vantage would have been special in any other situation, but it also holds extreme appeal for being the first of its kind to roll off the production line.

The car, that is now worth £500,000, was the first to leave the production line in September 1965. It was used as a show car by Aston Martin before going into private hands and falling into disrepair.

Garrett High School’s Encore! choir won the people’s choice trophy. “We were excited and blessed to provide a safe performance opportunity for these choirs,” said Joshua Doubblestein, DeKalb’s choir director. “Unique to this year was the option for choirs to compete virtually by submitting a video of their performance. Choirs from South Dakota, Nebraska and Indiana competed in virtual divisions throughout the day in addition to our traditional in-person performances,” he said. “This year the DeKalb Choir Festival again offered a non-competitive concert ...
