Game commission biologists while conducting spring inventories of elk in the logged-off area north of the Lewis and Clark river in Clatsop county have observed an unusual light color phase in one cow elk. The entire body coloring from nose to tip of tail is a solid yellowish-white shade. The usual darker color of the shoulders is absent, and the mane of this animal likewise is blonde.

The former Wapato Correctional Facility is transformed into a homeless shelter and services center.
Multnomah County Commission Chair Deborah Kafoury is proposing to spend $150 million next fiscal year to reduce homelessness, including creating more shelter capacity and supportive services. That does not yet include any funding for the county s former unused Wapato Jail, which is currently sheltering and serving the homeless, even as it is still being transformed into the Bybee Lakes Hope Center.
The remote North Portland facility opened last October with 76 shelter beds and 56 residential treatment beds. An additional 220 beds are under construction, along with medical facilities, an industrial-strength laundry, a covered kennel and a Victory Garden that includes 120 fruit trees. Yamhill County hopes to become sanctuary from gun laws

Commissioner Berschauer s proposal would prohibit county resources from being used to enforce state or national gun-control regulations.
Yamhill County could become a 2nd Amendment sanctuary under a proposal commissioners will consider Thursday morning, Feb. 25.
New Commissioner Lindsay Berschauer proposed the ordinance on Friday, Feb. 19. A four-page ordinance will be discussed during the commissioners regular meeting, which begins online at 10 a.m. at zoom.us/j/92847709143, Webinar ID: 928 4770 9143. The ordinance is the final item on the agenda.
If approved, the ordinance would prohibit county resources from being used to enforce state or national gun control laws.
