Updated, 4:09 p.m. July 16, 2021Â The smell of smoke emanating from a 98-year-old Los Altos womanâs home Monday (July 12) attracted the attention of bystanders in her neighborhood, who called 911 and helped her escape. No one was injured in the fire, which started in the garage of Dorothy Meyerâs home, located on the 100 block of Doud Drive near Almond School, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department. Although initial reports credited Meyerâs neighbors with checking on and evacuating her, some later clarified that two construction workers known only to them as Daniel and Roman were first on the scene. Meyerâs neighbor, Janet Harding, and Hardingâs three grandchildren officially thanked the men and brought them fresh, home-laid chicken eggs two days after the fire. ....

He was the husband of Claudia Coleman with whom he shared over 36 years of marriage. Bill was an Air Force “brat”, born in Guam, lived around the world and was the oldest of eight children of Col William T. and Elizabeth Coleman. Bill’s love of the Air Force continued with an appointment to the Air Force Academy where he graduated with a degree in computer science in 1971. He went on to earn his master’s degree in computer science and computer engineering from Stanford University. He also holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Colorado. ....
