New Mexico joins climate change discussion ahead of Biden's summit
Days before President Joe Biden planned to host an international Climate Change Summit, and was expected to renew the U.S.’ goals to mitigate pollution, New Mexico environmental groups joined a national coalition in urging the administration to aim to reduce methane emissions from oil and gas by 65 percent from 2012 levels by 2025. Biden invited at least 40 world leaders to the summit planned for Thursday and Friday, and many expected he would call for the U.S. to target a 50 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2005 levels by 2030.
