Was that the same coalition that came out in 2018 and 2020 in opposition to trump's vision for america held together just enough to allow democrats to put down a remarkable -- by historic standards, a remarkably strong performance. fred, there are very few first-term midterms in american history that have gone this well for the party in power. and almost, and i think it is unprecedented for the party in power to have a midterm this good when the president himself was looking at an approval rating under 50%. the other examples were roosevelt in '34, kennedy in '62. clinton in '98. george w. bus...

But you look at reagan in '82. you know, people were saying he was too old. republicans got crushed two years in. clinton in '94. you look at barack obama in 2010. this has happened even to the most popular of presidents. i guess, again, democrats don't have to be excited about it. they don't have to be happy about it. but, yeah, we have gas price problems, but among western countries, our gas prices are lower than most of the rest of the world. we have inflation problems, but we're fairing as well or much better than great britain and other countries in europe. you just wonder why they're pan...
