CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV/AP) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is sending officers to Washington, D.C. to help with security surrounding the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, CMPD’s Rob Tufano confirmed.
Sources say the department is sending 90 CMPD officers but Tufano wouldn’t confirm that number. CMPD will be assisting with activities related to the inauguration, but Tufano would not elaborate.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte’s Animal Care and Control has crossed a milestone. They’ve reached their goal of a 90-percent live release rate for the year of 2020.
That means nine out of 10 animals are either reunited with their owners or go on to find forever homes. That’s really an astonishing number.
Just a few years ago, if an animal was brought into the shelter in Charlotte, their chances were pretty bleak. Some dogs and cats made it to find forever homes, but a vast majority never left these walls. ....
